Once a year or so, I tell myself, "I should play catch up and update DeviantArt properly."

Once a year or so, I fail to do the thing.

I draw things... kind of. At the least, I do some Harry Potter art a couple of times a year and random Marvel drawings. None of my Daredevil or Spideypool drawings from Tumblr or Dreamwidth or LiveJournal have made it here yet. I keep telling myself, "I've just got to clean up that one thing - fix that one box - adjust that text - and then I'll upload it to DeviantArt." But it just doesn't seem to happen.

Maybe I should just throw them all on here as collected doodle dumps instead of worrying about making them finished pieces?

Ah, well.

Sorry for the mass submissions tonight. I realized I haven't been uploading anything lately when I went to make some gallery folder icons and almost all of the art pieces I used were from Tumblr instead of deviantArt... oops.


 

Geez. Nine months ago, the only thing I had to say was "This is what I did for the last three years. Here are three things I'm working on"?

I'm so lame.


The main art-related things I've done in the last year are drawing cards for people for Christmas/birthdays/New Year and a couple of little crochet projects. Nothing worth talking about, at least. xD

But it seems that getting back into Harry Potter roleplay is starting to get my creative juices flowing, and I'm finally-- finally-- starting to make baby-steps away from anime-style art. 8D Er. Not that there's anything wrong with anime-style art, of course; even if I don't watch it anymore, I adore the art style. *_* Well, manga art, at least~ But for years now, it just doesn't... feel right for me. B| Like, I draw something, then stare at it and go "I did that? Hm. That's nothing like I expected." o___o And as the closest thing I had to an art style was absolutely and totally anime-based... OTL It's fun for chibis but I don't like it being the only thing I can ever produce. =X

What it boils down to is that I'm basically so so so inflexible. I absolutely love versatile artists and versatility is... not something I can manage myself. XD Or consistency. (D'oh!) So I'm working on a picture of Draco with no lines~ :3 I figure that's the first step to getting away from anime art-- learning to break away from black-and-white lines guiding my everything. XD With the lines, it's way too tempting to fall back to what's tried and true. It's a bit of a shame, I guess, since I love inking lineart, but I haven't done any proper inking in ages now anyway. It also resulted in my being lazy as hell at colouring... I never did learn to colour, really-- just fill in the space between the lines, then run the highlight and burn tools over everything. XD I figure forcing myself to not use lines might-- keeping my fingers crossed-- force me to kindasortamaybe learn to colour properly as well.

So far, the picture is sorta fail, but we'll see how the end result turns out. xD He looks creepyyyy at the moment. ;_;

*peers* Was it really August 29th, 2009 when I last updated this journal? Well, I'm not exactly prolific so I shouldn't be surprised... hmmm. Yep.

In the last year and a half, I... went back to Japan once, back to Chicago once, and San Francisco once. I went through three computers (my laptop died, one work computer died, and then I upgraded from the loaner comp to the one I'm using now). Cat health problems, personal health problems (two surgeries, for example).

Fun.

Current projects are:
· Colour fanart of Namir Deiter characters Joan and Falco
· Make a simple Prinny plushie for Duomi
· Sew pockets on the insides of my camisoles so I don't get pickpocketed in Rome.
